Erosion Control with EBS Soil Stabilizer
Facing an urgent need for erosion control on the berm (embankment) outside their newly constructed offices, a client engaged Soil & Dust Solutions, the South African Agent for Soil Solutions, to provide an effective and environmentally friendly solution.
To eliminate erosion caused by heavy rains and prevent grass seed displacement, EBS Soil Stabilizer was selected. This solution not only controlled erosion but also encouraged grass growth, contributing to a more stable and visually appealing landscape.
Preparation & Application Process
Surface Preparation – Large stones and debris were removed, drains were cleaned, and fertilizer and grass seed were evenly spread. The area was then raked to mix the seed and fertilizer into the soil and loosen soil tension for optimal EBS penetration. EBS Application – Two coats of EBS were evenly applied using a pump and spray system, ensuring precise coverage and adherence to the specified application rate. Immediate Effectiveness – During the application, 4mm of rain fell with no negative impact, as EBS immediately bonded with the soil, preventing product wash-off and ensuring all seed and fertilizer remained in place. Proven Performance in Heavy Rainfall – After the application:
An additional 3mm of rain fell that evening—with no erosion or seed displacement. 260mm of rainfall during the first week—yet the seed remained intact, and germination had already begun.
